Broadwater on the Lagan Canal is a tranquil, historic 3-mile (4.8km) linear towpath trail that stretches between Moira Railway Station and the quiet village of Aghalee. Rich in heritage, this scenic water corridor follows a stretch of the 18th-century Lagan Navigation system, which was officially abandoned in 1954. The standout feature is the "Broad Water" itself, a massive, man-made expanse of water engineered into a natural valley to maintain a deep water level for historical canal boats. Cloaked in a thin, lush belt of mature woodland, wildflowers, and overgrown towpath greenery, the Broadwater offers a beautifully level, quiet, and reflective waterside walk cut straight through the countryside.
Dogs are warmly welcomed.
