Nestled in the Down countryside near Ballynahinch, Montalto Estate is a spacious 400-acre woodland and parkland venue that’s turned itself into a genuinely dog‐friendly destination, perfect for you and your pup.
What you’ll love
The Trails & Gardens section welcomes well-behaved dogs on leads throughout the estate grounds.
There’s a Bark Park off-lead zone: a fenced-in agility and play area built just for dogs to run free, explore obstacles and burn off some energy.
The café on site has a dedicated dog-friendly indoor/outdoor space: you don’t have to stay outside with the pooch in the cold.
Water bowls, lead-tie points and picnic areas are available in the trails section—so you can relax while your dog has space to roam.
Free parking and accessible paths make it relatively stress-free for a dog-friendly outing.
Important things to check
Dogs must remain on leads in the general trails and gardens (excluding the Bark Park).
The Bark Park is included, but you’ll want to check the opening hours of that zone, and whether it's busy—off-lead doesn’t always mean ‘quiet off-lead’.
In the main café, shop and enclosed under-5 play area dogs are not permitted except assistance dogs. So you’ll need to choose your seating area accordingly.
Some of the trails have uneven surface, inclines or may become muddy after rain—might not suit super pram trips or very small dogs who struggle with terrain.
